Johns Hopkins Hospital Shooting

16 Sep

I’m glad the situation at Hopkins is okay and that the Dr is on the road to recovery. When I heard that the shooting occurred on Nelson 8, I was immediately sick – Nelson 8 is the orthopedic ward. As details came out hearing that the man was distraught over his mothers sudden paralysis I was even more sick – knowing a spine surgeon would have likely caused the damage. I was worried about my two doctors – which are fine but the one doctor that was shot identified by AP, I met before. In an even more odd coincidence after my first back surgery I stayed in that same exact room that the police identified Nelson 8 Room 873.

Police Shoot, Kill Discovery Channel Gunman

01 Sep

Pretty scary stuff!  I only caught the tail end of MSNBC live coverage around 4 – 5 PM but I went back and re-watched the continuing coverage that MSNBC had on all day.  I am glad everyone is alright.

Anyone who watches Today on NBC knows there are a few regulars in the crowd.  One of them hapens to be Linny Boyette. He is in the crowd every day no matter the weather and arrives outside Studio 1A at 5:30 AM every morning.  Here is a video from allDay The Today Show blog.

Beloit College Mindset List

18 Aug

Every year Belloit College publishes a list called the Beloit College Mindset List where they list things for professors of the current incoming class of 2014.  The school describes the list as a way for the faculty members to “watch your references”.   It’s always a fun way to read and to see how much things have changed for the incoming class that is two years younger than me.

Mika Brzezinski

18 Aug
Mika Brzezinski on Today Sunday August 15, 2010

Mika Brzezinski on Today Sunday August 15, 2010

Mika Brezinski is a journalist and presently co-anchor of Morning Joe. She is a intelligent and beautiful woman but I wish at times she would make her views more present on Morning Joe.  I think she wants to keep her journalistic credibility next to the right wing Joe Scarborough.

I know she’s a liberal, her father, Dr. Zbigniew Brezinski, was the Democratic National Security Advisor under President Carter.  But more times than not she ends up biting her tongue and keeping her mouth shut while Joe Scarborough is blabbering on about his conservative views.

When Joe Scarborough is off Mika takes control of the show and she feels much more at ease and open.  I’m not saying that Joe & Mika don’t have a good dynamic, but when Joe is out of the picture she is able to freely express her opinions with out Joe barking in and constantly interrupting her even when she is reading the news.

I love watching Morning Joe it is must see TV and I TiVo it every day.  As the show is described by the third co-host, Willie Geist, the viewer feels they could delve right into the political conversation with today’s news makers and the politicians in Washington.

She is always on set on time when the show broadcasts from 30 Rock in New York City or WRC-TV in Washington D.C. but for some reason when ever they are in a different time zone she always shows up in the shows second hour, forcing Joe to be on time.  Maybe its because “Mommy needs her ambien.”

See below for some screen captures of this beautiful woman from the Today Show from this past weekend August 14th and 15th.
